The Palouse fields seem endless at times. The highway curves its way through the country side, going around yet another bend and proving that oftentimes it's better to pick your battles- why force yourself through an obstacle when it can be better to simply avoid it? Especially when the obstacle is as everlasting as a massive mound of rock and loess (our world famous soil type). It's just as easy to lose oneself on the backroads as is it in the woods- you feel like you're the only one in the world. . . until a farm truck comes rumbling by and you double check to make sure your car is pulled far enough onto the shoulder to not get your bumper clipped! Or maybe you should wander down off the Palouse, into the LC Valley and up into Waha. . .Â
